Fall in love with Beehive's Valentino
DRINK: The ValentinoLOCATION: BeehiveThere's a largely underground bar and restaurant on Tremont Street in the South End of Boston that is near and dear to my heart. First, they have awesome pierogies. Secondly, there's live jazz. Thirdly, the bathrooms are gorgeous. But most importantly, they have the Valentino. The Valentino is a blood orange martini that tastes like a combination of fresh fruit, booze, and fanciness.I'm not a martini drinker by nature. I'm more like a beer - "bee-ahh" - drinker. So if I'm telling you that you need to get this drink, take it seriously. For $11.00, you get what I'm convinced is a top-10 cocktail in Boston. The Valentino Martini is described as containing Vodka, Blood Orange (ooh, dramatic and classy), and Passion Fruit. Two of those drinks will start your head nicely humming, but it's not so heavy on the vodka that you have to purse your lips.Put another way, it's a drink that you should most definitely keep out of reach of children who enjoy juice...which is all children.I think that Beehive is so special to me because it's the place that I first began to realize that I'm a working female professional in one of the greatest cities in the country and I'm finally making enough money to order $11.00 martinis without feeling too guilty. It's nice to feel - even every once in a while - like you're starring in an episode of Sex and the City. <3
