Two Chain Restaurants in Two Days is Always a Bad Idea
I am not a food snob. Really. I swear I'm not. I can offer tons of evidence to prove that to anyone who has doubts.
- I looked through a recent list of Top Chef recipes (a show Phil and I both LOVE) and didn't quite know what these words mean: ceviche, demi-glace, polenta.
- I hate having to taste the wine before the waiter pours my glass (I ordered the cheapest red for a reason)
- I enjoy wearing elastic-waist pants to dinner
That being said, other than our great homemade chips, it was a pretty disappointing food weekend for Phait. We went out twice, both to chain restaurants: Ninety-Nine and The Cheesecake Factory. Both times? Eh.Phil loves Ninety-Nine, but he loves it for beer, wings, and venting about work. I love The Cheesecake Factory, but for the cheesecake. In both outings, I left feeling gross, full, and needing to go to the gym. Listen, there's a reason chain restaurants have been so successful - they're good, they're cheap, they're predictable. We had a great time with family at both outings, which was nice and definitely overshadowed the mediocre food. But thinking about the fact that The Cheesecake Factory is literally the unhealthiest restaurant in America makes me really regret my dining choices right now.And to leave you with a mental picture, I'm currently sitting on the couch in stretchy pants, drinking a Sam Adams, pretending I don't have to wake up for work in 7 hours, finishing my leftover Honey BBQ Wrap and French Fries.
